What the role involves
At its heart, the Clinical Applications Specialist role bridges the gap between technical products and the clinical teams who use them. Gillian translates complex equipment into practical knowledge for customers working in radiotherapy and oncology imaging.
One day, she might be running an in-person demo of immobilisation equipment; the next, she's coordinating research meetings between customers and suppliers.
This clinical role demands current product knowledge. Gillian is currently learning about new additions to the portfolio, such as the Chemo Mouthpiece and United, so she can share that expertise confidently with customers.
Attending industry events
A big part of the Clinical Applications Specialist role is staying close to the wider medical physics community. Gillian will be attending the IPEM South West Medical Physics and Clinical Engineers Meeting in Bristol on the 6th and 7th July. She will also head to Manchester for the inaugural UKI Radformation Users Meeting on 22nd July, where she has helped to arrange speakers.

Demos, training and customer support
Training is a large part of Gillian's role. She delivers in-person demos and training for CQ Medical immobilisation equipment and works alongside the Radformation team to arrange sessions for their solutions.
When she's not on site, Gillian provides remote advice on the wider product portfolio. She also coordinates research meetings, helping customers explore changing techniques with the right suppliers.
Working with the wider team
Gillian works closely with the Sales team, supporting Account Managers and the Sales Coordinator at OIS with clinical insight. She also lends a hand to the service team whenever clinical input is needed or requested. This collaborative thread runs through everything she does, and it's part of why the position sits at the centre of so much activity.
Life beyond the job
Flexibility is something Gillian values. Her four-day work week gives her time to train for a half-ironman and spend time with her dog, Luna. This balance keeps her energy high for a clinical role that genuinely varies week to week.
