Team members from Oncology Imaging Systems recently attended ESTRO 2026 in Stockholm, Sweden, one of the most important annual gatherings for the global radiotherapy and oncology community. The congress provided a valuable opportunity to connect with industry partners, explore the latest technological developments, and gain insight into the future direction of clinical workflows across adaptive radiotherapy and quality assurance.

AI-driven and adaptive radiotherapy workflows

A major theme throughout this year’s ESTRO was the continued shift toward adaptive and AI-driven radiotherapy workflows. There was significant discussion around automation and how intelligent tools are helping to streamline clinical processes, particularly in offline adaptive treatment and review pathways. Solutions such as RADFormation’s ChartCheck Adaptive were a key talking point, highlighting how automation can improve efficiency, reduce manual workload, and support more consistent clinical decision-making.

Hands-on innovation in immobilisation and positioning

Beyond workflow automation, ESTRO 2026 also offered the chance to engage directly with several key partners and explore innovations in person. Time spent with CQ Medical included hands-on evaluation of their latest immobilisation solutions, including the MultiFix² and Extremity Riser systems. These devices are designed to enhance reproducibility and improve patient comfort, particularly in extremity setups where precision is essential. The team also explored DexAlign, a solution designed to improve setup accuracy and deliver greater workflow consistency for hand treatments.

Advancements in radiotherapy QA

Catching up with Standard Imaging was another highlight, with the BeamChecker Pro demonstrated in action. The system reflects the ongoing evolution of fast, efficient daily QA workflows designed to meet the demands of modern linac environments. ScandiDos also showcased the Delta4 SRS Pro, an advanced platform supporting increasingly complex SRS and SBRT treatments with high precision and efficiency.

Strengthening partnerships across Europe

Beyond the technology, ESTRO 2026 was also an excellent opportunity to reconnect with customers and partners from across Europe, share clinical experiences, and discuss the future of adaptive radiotherapy and QA. Collaborating with partners including LAP, RADformation, Standard Imaging, ScandiDos, and CQ Medical reinforced the importance of shared innovation in driving the sector forward.

Reflecting on a successful ESTRO 2026

Overall, ESTRO 2026 was a highly productive and insightful congress, made even more memorable by the setting in Stockholm. The event provided a valuable perspective on the industry's direction and strengthened OIS's commitment to supporting continued innovation in radiotherapy workflows and quality assurance.
