OIS launch new range of IGRT Couch Systems.

The IGRT Couchtops 'kVue', is a state-of-the-art radiotherapy couch top that is optomized for the most recent advances in technology. It is engineered to ensure precise and repeatable sub-millimeter patient positioning. Made using advanced fiber composites that are completely metal free, the kVue uses Moving Beam Technology which allows the support beams to be positioned out of the treatment field.

The kVue features interchangeable inserts including a version of the industry standard head and neck IMRT extension Cantilever Board with patented bearclaw technology.

These couch tops are backed by an agreement with Varian Medical Systems to incorporate the Exact 'Indexed Immobilisation' technology designed for the accurate reproducible patient positioning essential for the treatment of cancer with advanced, high precision forms of radiation therapy.

TOPEX mobile unit reaches 3,000 skin cancer patients worldwide

Oncology Imaging Systems Ltd. is the UK and Ireland distributor for TOPEX Inc. TOPEX SRT 100 effectively treats skin cancer through superficial radiotherapy. The compact but flexible design has a broad range of motion (both horizontal and vertical) to allow the patient to be treated either sitting or lying down, especially comfortable for older people and those with restricted motion. The unit is self-contained with standard wall socket operation and automated set-up controls. It offers a mobile, productive and cost-effective solution for clinics, with increased out-put and low capital investment.

Oncology Imaging Systems is pleased to introduce and distribute PointGuard® adhesive cover option for paediatric radiation therapy treatment, from Beekley Corporation in the USA.

These bright and fun designs are the first child-friendly covers on the market. Perfect for protecting and highlighting temporary marks during radiation therapy, they make marking a lot less scary for the little ones. The child-friendly pictures help create a more positive experience and make kids much more likely to keep them on.

Oncology Imaging Systems Ltd recently supplied Ninewells Hospital in Dundee with a new Q-Fix Mould Room Couch as part of their radiotherapy department’s recent expansion programme.

Oncology Imaging Systems installs kVue Couch Tops in Ireland

Oncology Imaging Systems has just embarked on two exciting couch upgrade projects in Ireland, at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital in Dublin and The Mid-Western Cancer Centre located in Limerick.

Both centres have chosen kVue couch tops, which offer modular patient positioning inserts that become the patient surface of the couch top, eliminating additional attenuation or dose build-up caused by the couch top itself. Made with carbon fibre composites the kVue is equipped with Stealth Beams that can be positioned independently to avoid the radiation fields. Each centre will have kVues installed on their linear accelerators and CT simulator to provide consistency and increase the accuracy of treatment planning dosimetric calculations.

Fibreplast, the ‘bullet proof’ thermoplastic distributed by Oncology Imaging Systems

Fibreplast is a new premium thermoplastic material from QFix, distributed in the UK by Oncology Imaging Systems Ltd. It’s a combination of traditional Aquaplast thermoplastic and Kevlar® fibres.

Kevlar® is famous for it’s high strength-to-weight ratio, reportedly "...5 times stronger than steel on an equal weight basis” and is typically used to reinforce composite materials found in super strong products, from bullet-proof vests to suspension bridge cables.

Computerised Radiography and IMRT QA Computerised Radiography (CR) is fast becoming an invaluable tool in the Radiotherapy department

Combining convenience and flexibility with high image quality and reliability, this technology will ultimately provide a totally filmless department.

The Kodak 2000 RT CR System can digitally capture portal , verification and simulation images with a single system as well as perform image based and dose related Physics QA. The only system on the market to perform all of these functions, it can also be used in conjunction with any software tools able to accept DICOM images (eg RIT,) to capture, measure and analyse QA data on demand.

Oncology Imaging Systems are introducing two new products for the optimisation of prostate radiotherapy this year, manufactured by Hospimed International. The RectalPro Endorectal Balloon, Gold Markers and Pre-Waxed Needles have been designed to increase tumour control and eliminate unnecessary dose exposure during radiotherapy, both performing well in clinical trials. read more.
